Unofficial Bio:

· My personality type is a neurotic extravert. It’s a thing, I swear.
· I firmly believe Hot Tamales should be a recognized food group.
· I’m a heart failure survivor.
· I have zero sense of personal space.
· My mom thought I needed a therapist in kindergarten because everyone always exploded at the end of my stories. Good news: My characters now have a slightly higher survival rate.
· I believe people are put in our path for a reason. Always.

School Visits:

Erin loves to visit middle and high school to talk about writing! She offers half day (two presentations plus a signing) and full-day programs (four presentations plus a signing) on the following topics:

* Larger, auditorium or multi-class style: FINDING YOUR STORY. In this keynote-style session, Erin will discuss the value of using art to find and tell the story inside of you. She will discuss how she came to tell the story of SCARS LIKE WINGS, as well as what it means to mine life for the stories all around us. Discussion will center on questions such as: What make a great story? How can you tell your story? Why are stories so important in society? Students will learn what it takes to tell a great story (voice, theme, characters) by examining stories that resonate with them. Students will be asked to participate in sharing their own favorite stories with the group when appropriate.

* Workshop: CREATE CAPTIVATING CHARACTERS. In this workshop-style session, Erin will discuss the art of creating characters by experimenting with voice, identifying what your character wants and examining the journey of a good character arc. Students will participate as a group and individually as they create a character, role-play with dialogue and sketch out a hero’s journey.
