Questions? I have answers!
Yes, please. I would LOVE to see my characters come to life on the big screen. Or the smaller screen. Really, any screen. So let your favorite producer/director/actor know that they should get on that.
I’d love to! I post events and signings HERE. If you’re not anywhere near one of these events, your best shot is to be on the lookout for preorder incentives for my new books. I sign all of those though my local bookstore, and can even add in some signed bookplates for my other books if you shoot me a DM in Instagram when you preorder.
Okay, I’m not a monster, but yes. Because it means they feel something, and my books are ALL about feeling all the things…the happy and the sad and the hurt and the triumph and the everything. I feel all those things when I write these books, and I love when readers get that emotion through the pages. For me, telling these stories is about connecting us as human beings through the emotions. And sometimes, tears are a part of that. So let ‘em flow!
All of my characters have pieces of me—some big, some small. Lily, in THE WORDS WE KEEP, is probably the closest character to my own personality so far. I struggle with anxiety, and I put a lot of myself into this book. It was exhausting. But also cathartic and beautiful and helped me face my own mental health struggles.
I wish I could read everyone’s works in progress. Unfortunately, time will not allow it. But here’s my best advice for those of you who are working hard to be an author someday: Keep reading! Keep writing! Finish writing an entire book so you know how to take a character (and yourself!) from start to finish. Oh, and find some other friends who can swap pages with you and give honest, helpful feedback to make your story so good that a publisher is going to snap it up someday.
Definitely! Talking to readers is my favorite. You can find out more about my school visits HERE, or shoot me an email at erinstewartwrites@gmail.com.
